Firstly, a big thank you to all the people who came to watch the game, I know both teams really appreciated the support and it was especially welcomed by the Thunder guys who are more used to playing in front of a much smaller crowd. By the way the crowd was just over 400 on Saturday which is fantastic, and hopefully a few will be back to support Thunder in the new season.
Thanks to a very impressive New York Imperials team and their coach Reggie Monchais for making the trip over for what was a thoroughly enjoyable few days of hockey. New friends have been made and I'm led to believe that the UK / USA special relationship was upheld after the game in the theatre district.
From Thunder's point of view, this was a very worthwhile game. It gave us a chance to see where we were in our off-season rebuilding process, and I'm comfortable that the team we are putting together will be very competitive next season. It would be interesting to play Imperials again in 6 months time with a complete and match fit team, the outcome would be very close indeed and difficult to call.
Special thanks from all three MK teams that played Imperials must go to Karen Starkey who looked after our visitors so well during their time here, and without the aid of a single water bottle Also thanks to those that ferried players and supporters back and forth from the Holiday Inn, and everyone that helped out in all the games with the off-ice duties.
I can go back into hibernation now
